Heavyweight contender Shane Cameron (23-1, 20 KOs) completed his homecoming by knocking out American journeyman Robert Davis (32-10, 20 KOs) in the eleventh round of their bout at Rugby Park in Gisborne, New Zealand.
Cameron promised a leaner look and he delivered by coming in trim and used pressure style boxing to wear Davis down with each passing round. During the eleventh, Cameron had rocked Davis with a right hand and then let his hands go with a barrage of heavy punches to force the stoppage.
Now Cameron moves on to the fight he demanded for the last two years, a showdown with New Zealand rival David Tua (49-3, 42KOs) on June 6 at the Waikato Stadium in Hamilton. The fight is being tagged by some as the biggest in the history of New Zealand boxing. The WBO Asia Pacific and WBO Oriental heavyweight title will be on the line.
