Heavyweight Prospect Seth "Mayhem" Mitchell (23-0-1) appeared on the most recent edition of The Boxing Lab, BoxingScene.com's official audio show.  Mitchell is putting the final touches on his training camp for Timur Ibragimov.  The fight takes place in Washington, DC and will be broadcast on HBO.  Amir Khan defends his WBA and IBF titles versus Lamont Peterson in the main event.

The articulate former Michigan State linebacker was very candid when he answered the questions that my co-hosts and I are were asking.  While he is very happy with the way his career is progressing, he thinks that he needs a few more fights before he is ready to take on one of the Klitschko brothers who have dominated the heavyweight division for years. He also thinks that after a few more fights that he will be more well known.

"I think I'm a top level fighter now," stated Mitchell.  "People will hear my name and know who I am within the next two or three fights. I have the size to stay with the Klitschko's. I am 6'2".  I have the athleticism. I think my athleticism is the key."

Mitchell also stated that he never goes into the fight looking for the knockout.  He likes to let the knockouts come to him.  At the same time he understands that the fans that pay money to attend his fights want to be entertained and that winning the fight is only part of the equation of becoming a must-see fighter.

"This is the entertainment business. Win lose or draw you will get an entertaining fight from me. I'm not gonna run. The fans will get their money's worth on December 10th," said Mitchell.

Before our call ended, Mitchell revealed a target date for facing either Wladimir or Vitali.  Barring an injury or other problem, he feels that he will be ready for one of the brothers in the beginning of 2013.

"If I continue to progress and I don't have any setbacks I should be ready for the Klitschkos by the early part of 2013.  My team is doing a great job getting me the right fights to get me ready for the Klitschkos," Mitchell explained.
