Boxing adviser Sampson Lewkowicz, the longtime team member of WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (51-2-2, 28KOs), feels he can find a solution to solve the problem of the pending mandatory defense owed to Marco Antonio Rubio (58-6-1, 50KOs). That problem will have to be solved if Martinez plans to secure a major fight next year with former three division champion Miguel Cotto (38-4, 31KOs).
"It's absolutely correct [that Rubio is the mandatory]. But there is always something that can be done at the negotiating table. [Rubio being the mandatory challenger] does not mean that there are no solutions. In boxing there are always solutions," Lewkowicz told Jose Sanchez.
