Sampson Lewkowicz, the adviser to Sergio Martinez, is picking middleweight contender Marco Antonio Rubio (53-5-1, 46KOs) to get a knockout victory over undefeated WBC champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (44-0, 31KOs). Chavez defends against Rubio on February 4th at the Alamodone in San Antonio, Texas. Lewkowicz backs the opinion of his fighter, Martinez, who picked Rubio to knock Chavez out in six rounds.
Martinez recently vacated his WBC Diamond title over the sanctioning organization's inability to deliver an ordered fight with Chavez. Lewkowicz doesn't expect any stumbling blocks with Martinez possibly fighting Rubio in the fall. Martinez is scheduled to return on March 17th against Matthew Macklin.
"Rubio is a real Mexican fighter. He doesn't back down from any challenges. He would fight Martinez. I believe Rubio is going to knock Chavez Jr. out cold, and then he can go on to face Martinez in the fall," Lewkowicz told BoxingScene.com.
