WBC middleweight champion Sergio 'Maravilla' Martinez will undergo surgery on his right knee on November 12th in Madrid. Specialist Dr. Angel Villamor will oversee the procedure.

Martinez suffered a partially torn meniscus in his right knee, an injury that lingered for the last few months and then further damaged during his twelve round decision win over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on September 15th in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Martinez does not expect a long recovery period. He plans to return to the ring in March or April of 2013.

Regarding his left hand injury, Martinez expects the hand to be 100% in 20 days. Martinez will travel to Argentina on the 22nd of October, and plans to meet with the president on the 24th. He will head over to Tenerife, Spain on October 27th
