Promoter Lou DiBella has told BoxingScene.com that he plans to push for Sergio Martinez to get his title shot at WBC junior middleweight champion Vernon Forrest. Martinez fought to a lackluster majority draw with Kermit Cintron on Saturday night in Sunrise, Florida. Most ringside observers felt Martinez was well ahead on points and should have won the fight.

Martinez, the WBC's interim-champion, has been waiting for a shot at Forrest for a long time. DiBella made a deal last year for Martinez to step aside so Forrest can have his rematch with Sergio Mora. DiBella expects the WBC to order a purse bid as early as this week.

"Martinez wants the fight with Vernon. He wants to fight the champion. The WBC may order a purse bid for that fight in the next few days. We are going to push for Martinez to get his shot and either Vernon will fight him or give up his title," DiBella said.
