Former two division world champion Sergio Martinez, 45-years-old, says his body is currently in top form with no issues.

Martinez has everything set for his planned return, after being retired since suffering a 2014 knockout loss to Miguel Cotto at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

When Martinez walked away from the ring, he was dealing with numerous injuries to his body.

He believes those issues, specifically to his knees, are fully resolved.

Martinez rejects the critics who believe that he's an old man who should stay away from the ring.

"I have an opponent and the city where I am going to compete again is all finalized," Martinez told TYC Sports.

"Everything is perfect for my return. I have a super healthy body and the average life span has risen a lot. In the past, at 35 you were already an old man in the sports field, but we were dying at 80 during that period. Today the age for sports is lengthening because a person's life expectancy is getting longer."

The fight will be fought over the ten round distance, at middleweight - which is the same division where Martinez fought in 2014.

He admits that he never threw proper power punches during his prime - and after years of training, he promises to display a lot more power.

"I feel like a new fighter, with new types of movements, with more effectiveness. I learned where the energy goes, there is no comparison with the previous version of myself. I can honestly say it, I don't know how I could have been a world champion without knowing how to punch. I had a lot of speed and I had a good combo of three, four shots because I had plenty of training. Now I need only 10% for the power I have in my shots to be superior to what I had before.

"I am going to face this first fight and then we'll see where we go from there. Obviously, health comes first. I am a retiree who is coming back."
