WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (51-2-2, 28KOs) is coming for blood on June 7th, when he defends his title against former three division champ Miguel Cotto (38-4, 31KOs) at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Cotto's trainer has been doing a lot of talking, calling Martinez a "soccer player" and saying the Argentine star is "not a great fighter."
"It will be a slaughter," Martinez promised. "I will win by knockout before the ninth round."
Martinez also said Cotto will end up in the "fourth row" among the spectators.
After dealing with numerous injuries, Martinez feels "in perfect condition" for the fight and doesn't have pain in his right knee.
Cotto, a small fighter at 154, is moving up to middleweight for Martinez, but the champion considers the Puerto Rican boxer to be "a dangerous" fighter.
Martinez, at 39-years-old, is not thinking about retirement. He is "motivated" to get in the ring but says he always evaluates his future "with his team after every fight."
The last time Roach was boasting about a fighter, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Martinez punished the Mexican boxer for eleven rounds, before getting hurt in the twelfth and final round.
