WBO/WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez is willing to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr., if the fight comes along, but it would have to happen after a rematch with Kelly Pavlik. Last month in Atlantic City Martinez won a unanimous decision over Pavlik to capture the titles. There was an immediate rematch clause in the contract. Until Pavlik makes a decision on the rematch, Martinez has to assume that Pavlik will be the next fight. After last Saturday's win over Shane Mosley, Mayweather mentioned a move to middleweight to challenge Martinez as a "possible" option if a fight with Manny Pacquiao doesn't happen.

"I have a rematch clause with Pavlik and I will do anything to honor my word," said Martinez to AOL's Boxing FanHouse . "Absolutely I would fight Pavlik first, and then, Mayweather second."

Martinez thinks a Mayweather fight would be a great action-packed contest. In reality unless Mayweather fights Martinez in the same style as last week, the fight is going to be a chess match based on the styles. Martinez is too big and too strong to fight in the same manner as Mosley. Mayweather will stick and move.

"It would be a great fight. It would not be about the belts, but about the fight," said Martinez. "I think it would be an exciting fight to see two of the best fighters in the world fight each other in their prime."

"The fight would be action-packed with great combinations of speed, strength and power. A fight with Mayweather would be a well-deserved fight for me, great for my career, and a dream come true for the boxing fans all over the world."
