BoxingScene.com was advised that WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez is planning to make the second defense of his title on a March date on HBO. Discussions are ongoing to finalize a date in March, and the opponent should be secured in the next couple of weeks.

Martinez has already begun training at the World Crown Sports Training Center in Oxnard, California. He plans to break camp on December 11 and will travel to the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas to support countryman Marcos Maidana as he challenges Amir Khan for the WBA 140-pound title. On the same day, Martinez will attend, by way of invite, the 'All-in For CP' 3 celeb poker tourney at the Venetian.

Following the trip to Vegas, Martinez will spend a few days in Mexico. He will take part in several charity events. Also on the schedule is a few good service visits to injured and sick kids at some of the local hospitals. Martinez will eventually hook up with WBC president Jose Sulaiman to show his loyalty to the organization. After he returns to California, the March date and the opponent should be close to finalized.
