EBU middleweight champ Sebastian Sylvester, according to Bild Zeitung, is in a contractual discussions with Sauerland Event. Sylvester is promoted by Sauerland but managed by Winfried Spiering of Wiking BoxTeam in Berlin. According to Spiering the contract expires this fall and they have offers from both Spotlight Boxing and Arena Box Promotions. Chris Meyer, CEO of Sauerland Event, says to BZ the contract was renewed in November of 2007 and runs through 2009. Sylvester is in line for an all German mega fight against WBA champ Felix Sturm.
Slovenian welterweight Jan Zaveck is on the way back after a brief layoff due to a back injury. Zaveck is the official challenger for EBU titleholder Jackson Osei Bonsu.
WBC Int´l jr welterweight ruler Sergey Sorokin defends against American Randall Bailey May 30 in Bilbao on Stock Eventos and Arena´s big show. Ín another featured bout Cuban heavy Odlanier Solis face South African veteran Francois Both. The Konstantin Airich-Danny Williams fight goes as previously reported ahead on the undercard. There´s also an interesting Arena "eliminator" at middleweight between Alexander Sipos and Mahir Oral scheduled.
Vitalij Tajbert´s defense of the EU jr. lightweight title against Portugese Joao Bento will apparently go ahead July 5 in Halle/Westfalen on the undercard to Chagaev vs. Valuev and Sturm vs. Griffin.
Polish cruiserweight Pawel Kolodziej faces Hungarian Joszef Nagy in the headliner of Bullit Knockout´s show on May 31 in Legnica. In the chief support, welterweight Rafael Jackiewicz is in against Laszlo Komjathi. Heavies Tomasz Bonin and Andrzej Wawrzyk fight on the undercard.
Spanish flyweight Ivan Pozo, fresh off a loss to WBO king Omar Narvaez, is official challenger for newly crowned EBU champ Bernard Inom.
