There's no bigger believer in light heavyweight champion, Sergey Kovalev, than his respected trainer, John David Jackson and a bout he'd welcome is one against Andre Ward, which is being discussed for 2016.
"It's a fight I've talked about for four years. It wont be at 168, Andre came out of the amateurs at light heavyweight," Jackson pointed out at the Robert Garcia Boxing Academy in Oxnard.
"But here's the thing with Andre, very good fighter. Don't get me wrong, I respect him, what he's done, he's cleaned the 168-pound division out. At 175 his guns are not loaded, he has a half-clip coming. You gotta get Sergey's respect. You've got to punch to keep him off him. Andre doesn't have that power, also (Darnell) Boone dropped him," pointed out Jackson.
"What happens if Sergey lands that right hand? Listen, he's a good fighter but he can't beat Sergey, trust me. Sergey can box better than they think, Virgil Hunter, but (Ward's) a helluva fighter and we'd definitely have a game plan set for that fight."
