Dondon Sultan has suffered a sixth round TKO at the hands of newcomer Serge Yannick in a fight card at the Coburg basketball stadium in Victoria, Australia.

Fighting as a super middleweight Sultan was taking a beating when referee Ignatius Missailidis stepped in and called a halt at 2:59 of round six.

The Filipino was facing a shutout on the scorecards of all three judges 50-46 when the fight was stopped.

The 29 year old Sultan who has been campaigning in Australia was coming off a first round knockout win over Damien Smith last June 20 following a majority draw against highly touted Ben Crampton (21-1-1, 10 KO’s) last May 17.

With the loss Sultan drops to 16-12-3 with 8 knockouts while Yannick improves to 3-0 with 2 knockouts to his name.

It was the fifth loss in seven fights for Sultan since he won the vacant World Boxing Foundation welterweight title with a twelve round unanimous decision over Eddie Delic of Australia in Singapore on November 25, 2006.
