The Japan Boxing Commission has approved the fight between the Philippines Romart Sentillas and former world minimum weight champion Katsunari Takayama scheduled to take place at the World Memorial Hall in Kobe, Japan on March 12.
In response to concerns that the fight would be a mismatch, Koji Ishizuka of the JBC informed us that both the Japan Boxing Commission and the Philippine Games and Amusements Board (GAB) had sanctioned the fight.
Ishizuka pointed to the fact that Sentillas was ranked No. 7 minimum weight by the GAB with a record of 7 wins, 4 by knockout against 4 defeats. Takayama on the other hand has a record of 22-3 with 9 knockouts and is the former world minimum weight champion who in his career has fought some of the best in the division.
Besides, Takayama is currently ranked No. 2 in the world by the World Boxing Association (WBA) and No. 4 by the World Boxing Council (WBC).
Despite the obvious disparities both boxing organizations have approved the fight.
