BoxingScene.com understands that a fight between Lee Selby and Joel Brunker is in play for October 11 at the 02 Arena, London.
The bout will be a final eliminator for the IBF featherweight title currently held by Evgeny Gradovich.
Having captured British, Commonwealth, European titles and sold out shows in front of home crowds in Wales, Selby (19-1, 7KOs) is back on the road to secure his shot at world honours. The Welshman will be returning to the 02 Arena for the first time since winning the Lonsdale belt outright with a 12-round points win over Ryan Walsh last October.
2004 Olympian, Brunker (27-0, 15KOs) will be travelling outside of his native Australia for only the second time in his career. The previous occasion was on the undercard of his fellow countryman, Daniel Geale’s, unsuccessful title defence against Darren Barker where he picked up a hard fought eigh-round win over Mike Oliver.
If finalised, the contest will feature on Matchroom’s ‘Super Show’. Promoter Eddie Hearn revealed to BoxingScene.com last week that the show will be headlined by James DeGale with Mikkel Kessler a possible opponent.
The undercard could feature the rematch between rivals Tony Bellew and Nathan Cleverly, the return of David Haye, Kevin Mitchell and Anthony Joshua.
