Manager Richard Mota is confident that his fighter Giovanni Segura, the WBA junior flyweight champion, will win his unification fight with WBO champion Ivan Calderon by knockout. A deal was reached for the unification fight to take place on August 28 in Puerto Rico.
Mota said the two sides have agreed on everything, except for the brand of gloves. Calderon's side want both fighters to use Everlast and Segura wants to use Cleto Reyes, which is a popular glove among punchers.
"We know the risks of going to Puerto Rico to fight Calderon, but it was necessary to agree to that or else the fight would never have happened. I have full confidence that Segura will go to Puerto Rico and knock him out, and he has the necessary dynamite [in his hands] to do it," Mota told reporter Charles Winter.
