WBC Latino welterweight champion Sebastian "Iron" Lujan (38-5-2-1, 24 KOs) is very excited after his recent knockout victory over Los Angeles-based Filipino, Mark Jason Melligen, whom Lujan stopped in the ninth around after scoring four knockdown at the Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio, Texas. Lujan took the fight on a few days notice after Melligen's original opponent, Freddy Hernandez, withdrew with an injury.
Lujan has now put together a string of twelve straight wins since his points defeat to Jamie Moore in 2007. Lujan would like to face former champion Devon Alexander, who recently announced that he was moving up to 147-pounds.
"I was told about this fight eight days beforehand. I was ready, I boarded the plane [from Argentina] and showed up. He [Melligen] was left-handed, tough, and hits hard. But we were very motivated. We fought on equal terms and I came up with the win. We are ready for great things and great opponents. I spoke to someone about facing Devon Alexander, who is now moving up to welterweight. And I have no problem going to his backyard," Lujan told BoxingScene.com's Carlos Irusta.
