Sean McGoldrick has had his ring return date revealed.
The Commonwealth Games gold medallist, who is 26 and campaigns in the bantamweight division, has a promotional pact with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing and is managed by MTK Global, has been out of the ring since September.
But he will make a comeback on a Sky Sports-aired card on February 3 at the O2 Arena in London.
Hearn and Matchroom have called the show ‘British Beef’ as the main event pits two undefeated burgeoning fighters against each other.
The show is headlined by a cruiserweight grudge match between Isaac Chamberlain and ex-Olympian Lawrence Okolie, while Ted Cheeseman faces a step-up in opponent after agreeing to face former Kell Brook foe Carson Jones and Reece Bellotti returns in a defence of his Commonwealth featherweight title against Ben Jones.
McGoldrick has one stoppage from his three wins and will be looking to add to his tally on a TV card which has, Boxing Scene understands, further additions to be made that will be revealed in due course.
There is also action scheduled on the card for Ohara Davies, the WBA International super-lightweight champion, Felix Cash, who ended 2017 with a one-round stoppage earlier this month, and former Team GB star Joshua Buatsi along with Danny Dignum.
IN OTHER NEWS: Fajardo, Puerto Rico – WBA ranked #13, Alfredo 'Ojo' Santiago (8-0, 2 KO’s) and highly touted prospect, Subriel Matias Matthew (8-0, 8 KO’s), both from Fajardo, will be seeing action on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the Fajardo Municipal Equestrian Park. Opponents will be announced soon by Fresh Productions.
With eight fights each, both fighters already have very impressive victories over prospects, world title contenders, and former Olympians.
Campaigning at the lightweight division, Santiago, a native of Moca, Dominican Republic, has three notable victories over: former Mexican Olympian, Arturo Santos Reyes by unanimous decision ( UD ), former world title contender Jayson 'La Maravilla' Velez by majority decision, and the always seasoned Andres 'Pajita' Navarro by UD.
For his part, Matias Matthew, who is in the junior welterweight division, defeated in his fourth professional fight, rising prospect Jeffrey Fontánez from Caguas by technical knockout in the second round.
