Manchester Arena, Manchester - WBA 'regular' super bantamweight champion Scott Quigg (31-0-2, 23KOs) made a statement by stopping former IBF beltholder Kiko Martinez (32-6, 24KOs) in two rounds.

Many will compare this win to Carl Frampton's two victories over Martinez. The first time Martinez was stopped in nine rounds in 2013. They had a rematch in 2014, with Martinez losing a twelve round unanimous decision.

Against Quigg, Martinez came out with a fury in the first round. He throwing punches from many angles and pushing Quigg back very often. It appeared that Quigg was going to have a very long night - or it seemed.

In the second, Martinez came out once again with a furious pace, pushing the action with both hands flying. But Quigg stayed patient and caught Martinez coming in and a series of hard shots dropped him.

Quigg jumped on him and landed another series of shots to drop Martinez a second time. He was barely able to beat the count and the referee waved things off.
