Bury’s Scott Quigg will meet Brazil’s William Prado at the Bolton Arena on June 29th in a keep busy fight ahead of a possible tilt at the regular WBA Super bantamweight title later this year. Quigg, 25-0-1 (18) revealed the news during a conversation with Britishboxers.co.uk yesterday and is now fully focused on easing past his 23-3-1 (14) opponent.
“It is William Prado — I’m looking forward to the 29th,” said Quigg. “I’ll look him up, see what he’s about and these are the sort of opponents you learn from. It is going to be a good night.”
Prado does not travel well; his last two defeats came in Namibia and France — 12-round decision defeats against Paulus Ambunda and Jeremy Parodi respectively — and he will be up against it in Bolton.
However, the 29-year-old is adept at negotiating the full distance, so he will be comfortable if the scheduled 10-round bout goes into the later stages.
Quigg, 24, is taking part in his first in-ring action since last November’s sixth-round TKO over Rendall Munroe, which settled domestic supremacy here in the U.K.; he will be champing at the bit over the course of the next seven days after enduring a long stint of inactivity prior to making the move over to Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Sports.
