Former world champion Scott Harrison could return to action as early as November after receiving his licence to box.
The 34-year-old held the WBO featherweight title between 2002 and 2005 but his life spiralled out of control following a battle with the scales.
The Scot spent several months behind bars in Scotland for a series of assault convictions and only last month was released from a Spanish jail after two-and-a-half years for assaulting a factory worker in Malaga.
However, with drink problems now a thing of the past Harrison has got himself in tremendous shape during his incarceration, with former promoter Frank Warren looking to sign him up.
"Scott has served his time and paid his price," Warren told the Sunday Herald. "He is due a second chance just like every man who has been through what he has.
"I believe he is in superb condition and possibly even stronger than he was when he lost his title.
"So what I would say is that of course I am interested and if Scott and his camp are then they know my number and should feel free to call me."
Harrison had to pass a stringent medical test to reclaim his licence, which has been rubber-stamped by the British Boxing Board of Control's Scottish area council.
