Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer doesn't understand why promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport is consistently calling for fights with Golden Boy promoted boxers, through the press and social networks, but never actually initiates any direct negotiations.

"This guy Eddie Hearn, he must be an amateur, because he says all of these things to the newspapers. Call me if you want to do a fight," said Schaefer during a conversation with BoxingScene.com and Lem Satterfield of RingTV.com.

In the last few days, Hearn has been calling for a clash between one of his star fighters, welterweight contender Kell Brook (27-0, 18KOs), and Golden Boy promoted WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi (31-4, 7KOs). As BoxingScene previously reported, Malignaggi is being postitioned for Golden Boy's debut show at Brooklyn's Barclays Center on October 20th. The Golden CEO has no interest in a Malignaggi-Brook encounter at the moment.

"I'm not really interested. I mean, Kell Brook might be big in the United Kingdom, but here in the United States, he doesn't really matter," Schaefer said.
