Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, said that he had nothing concrete to report on Amir Khan's next opponent. Khan is slated to defend his super lightweight title on April 16 in England. The problem is, Schaefer has not been able to secure an opponent for him.
"I don't really want to tell you who we are talking to because it doesn't really help the process," Schaefer said. "I don't want to negotiate through the media because it doesn't help."
Schaefer was asked if it is true that Lamont Peterson and others have asked for too much money. Schaefer would only speak in general terms on that issue.
"I think a lot of these fighters have unrealistic expectations regarding these fights," he said. "They shouldn't look at how much someone else is making. If you start counting someone else's money, that really isn't going to get you anywhere. And that's not just in boxing."
