On December 10th at the Galen Center on the campus of USC, a Showtime doubleheader will take place that features the IBF junior middleweight title bout between Jermall Charlo and top ranked contender Julian Williams, and the WBA featherweight title fight between Jesus Cuellar and Abner Mares.

This card also marks the return of Richard Schaefer (the head of Ringstar Sports), who was the former CEO and co-founder of Golden Boy Promotions.

All four of the boxers mentioned above are affiliated with Premier Boxing Champions [PBC], but Schaefer tells BoxingScene.com that his company is - "Totally independent and there's no contractual - or in any way, shape or form - relationship between me and PBC. I hope that I'll be able to promote some of the PBC events and that will be one part of my business."

On Wednesday afternoon the PBC announced their 2017 network schedule, some of will surely involve Ringstar Sports.

But, according to Schaefer the PBC will not be the only facet of his new company.

"I'll be signing my own fighters. I'll be doing totally unaffiliated events away from the PBC, that have  nothing to do with the PBC or their fighters. It's just back to business for me and I will do my own TV deals as well, my own venue deals and my own everything. So it's totally independent," he explained.

Asked how many fight cards he plans on staging next year, Schaefer stated - "I hope that the number of events is going to be somewhere maybe 22-to-25 events. So I want to be active, I want to keep the fighters within Ringstar, I want to keep them busy and then in years two and three -  I want to see this grow, maybe 40-50 events in a year."
