We can agree to disagree - the wonder of gentlemanly observations. the Canelo/ smith fight - post fight smith made those comments out of pride - amith has zero power. He touched Canelo , he couldn't affect him. As to GGG dropping his defense on purpose he absolutely has done that more of late as to create his "big Drama Show" Monroe like smith didn't have power and GGG almost goaded him into taking shots to prove that Monroe couldn't hurt him and that Monroe in turn would be punished - GGG has in fact admitted when questioned done by Max kellerman in post fight interviews. He won't do that out of respect for Canelo's power and chin - both men will have to be prepared. And they will be. I believe effective aggression composed of: ring generalship, ability to time the other fighter and defense effective punching and movement will absolutely play in as factors both rely on power and speed more than lateral movement and defense clearly much of which is due to their respective power and ability to impose their will on the other fighter. You certainly have to be able to take the other fighters shots - it's the more intelligent fighter that avoids unnecessary damage with head, shoulder movement (more rare these days) lateral movement ( mostly non power punchers) and footwork along with balance. Not unlike Mike Tyson pre- jail time and Mike Tyson post jail- Age not withstanding . That's what makes the welterweights so competitive Keith Thurman can move , hit, control space in the ring is an example similar with Shane porter and a few of the others I don't believe a word of that..... and if that was true, all that would prove is that he is fighting sub-par opposition.

Just to play devils advocate what if Schaefer actually believes Canelo will get a brutal beat down and wants to see it because that'll hurt Golden Boy so he's just trying to goad them into the fight?

" And he's doing the exact opposite with Golovkin. He's making every excuse in the book to not make the fight and talking about "it's up to my promoter." That's how we know the fear involved with Alvarez and Golden Boy. Both have shown that when Alvarez actually wants a fight, he gets it.

Lol is there a admission of avoiding matches ? Maybe I read that wrong - here's a novel idea - make the matches instead of what ifs and speculation I like both fighters a lot and have watched both from early on in their respective careers. - Kell Brooks /GGG fight showed that GGG can be hit by a boxer that has good lateral movement , foot work, defense and ring generalship. Ummm GGG also won by TKO , 5th round, breaking Brooks eye socket in the process - not sure how that makes GGG exposed. GGG has a decent chin - he's let up a bit defensively to create a better show ( not sure why Abel Sanchez doesn't shut that down) but he hasn't been hurt. Canelo from the beginning has been a boxer puncher with not much defense he started to improve his defense right around around the Shane Mosely fight continued to improve defensively through , trout, cotto( aged overblown welterweight not a true Jr middle or middleweight fighter not much lateral movement either) of course overmatched style and speed wise against Mayweather (also not a true Jr middleweight) Caneli never has had great defensive skills or true lateral movement because he hasn't needed it - angulllo and Kirkland were fairly worn out through their own wars - Kirkland is a head case that wasn't prepared and got destroyed - this last fight Liam - Liam was landing at a high percentage the issue is that Liam has ZERO power. Both fighters need improved defense despite their respective power. Skill movement, ring generalship and defense against body work will determine the winner. both have power who ever is able to use it effectively should determine the winner.
