Savannah Marshall maintained her unbeaten run with a stoppage win.

The Hartlepool super-middleweight, 28, is closing in on a world title shot.

Marshall, who made her Matchroom debut earlier this summer at the O2 Arena in London, as part of the supporting cast to Luke Campbell’s vacant WBC lightweight world title defeat against WBA, WBO and Ring Magazine champion Vasyl Lomachenko, got her sixth early finish as a pro at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle.

The fight against America’s Ashleigh Curry –– who slipped to 8-13-4 with one quick in defeat –– formed part of the undercard to Robbie Davies Jr.’s official WBA world super-lightweight title eliminator showdown against Lewis Ritson.

And after taking out the Missouri native after the corner threw in the towel at 47 seconds of the third, exclusively live on Sky Sports and DAZN, ‘The Silent Assassin’ is targeting the big names.

“Tonight was about taking my time, she was a tricky opponent,” said Marshall, who had been set to have an eliminator for the WBA title on this card.
She showed her class in the fight, forcing Curry onto the ropes and unloading a barrage of shots from all angles.

Eddie Hearn, Marshall’s promoter, echoed her sentiments regarding her career progression.

He said: "It's so hard in this division, the next step-up is for world championships.

Meanwhile, Joe Laws once again entertained the masses of watching fans as he took out Ghana’s Justice Addy.

‘Lawzzy’ who sold upwards of 1000 tickets for the fight, was on the front foot from the start but began to fade as the contest went on.

Addy had slight spells of success, but it was the Benwell man who came out on top by a margin of 39 points to 37.

And Lawrence Osueke and Ricky Summers battled to a split draw in a British light-heavyweight title eliminator.

Summers, who has previous with the title having challenged Frank Buglioni for it back in July 2017, was in against the undefeated Osueke over 10 rounds of action.

The three scoring judges had differing opinions in terms of the outcome, with 100-92 being awarded to Osueke, 96-95 being awarded to Summers and the third judge having it dead level at 95 apiece.
