Hatfield’s Billy Joe Saunders has told Frank Warren TV that he has been counting down the days since his last professional fight - a points win over Alex Spitko in October. Billy, 20, is chomping at the bit ahead of his appearance on this weekend’s bill at the Metro Radio Arena, Newcastle, which will see Amir Khan defend his WBA light-welterweight title for the first time.
“I really can’t wait now, it’s been six or seven weeks (my last fight),” said Saunders. “I can’t wait for these shows. That’s where I perform, on the big shows. Even just showing people what you’re capable of, you’ve got to show your ability to them so that hopefully one day, when you’re world champion, they’ll come and watch me.”
Billy is 4-0 (3) and moving up the rankings with up each successive win; Jimmy Tibbs, Billy’s trainer, believes that Saunders can go all the way to the top and Tibbs, who guided Nigel Benn and Chris Pyatt, has tipped his man for big things.
Noble, 11-12 (2) is 22-years-old, he recently halted a five fight losing streak by snatching a win over Ciaran Healey, who lost to Noble by a single point last month. Noble isn’t afraid of getting stuck in and could give Saunders a few headaches in the early going.
Saunders fights Lee Noble over six-rounds and his clash will be shown on Sky Sports Box Office and Sky Sports Box Office HD.
