Rising prospect Saúl "Neno" Rodríguez (19-0-1) returns to the ring Saturday night in Studio City, Calif. against Daulis Prescott (31-3) of Colombia. The fight will serve as the main event of the latest installment of UniMas' Solo Boxeo series.
The unbeaten super featherweight contender has been out of the ring since blasting out Ivan Najera in the first round of their November truTV televised fight. He said he hopes to make quick work of Prescott so that he can get right back in the ring.
"I had a great camp. I had great sparring and my weight is coming off smoothly. I am only one or two pounds off weight," said Rodríguez on Thursday. "Everything is going well. Hopefully I can get him out of there early. I want to get right back in the ring like a month and a half after the fight. I want to fight at least four more times this year."
Rodríguez will also have his eye on the June 4th clash between WBC super featherweight champion Francisco Vargas and Orlando Salido.
The 23-year-old leans towards Vargas winning the fight but would like a shot at the title regardless of who wins.
"That is a good fight. The winner would be a possibility. That is a good one. I will probably be there because I have a few teammates on that card.
"I think Vargas (will win) because Salido has been in more wars but he is a veteran and you never know what to expect from him like when he went to Puerto Rico into Juanma's backyard and beat him twice. He is always a dangerous fighter. You can never count him out," Rodríguez told BoxingScene.com.
