The bout between Mexican welterweight prospect Saul Alvarez (29-0, 20KO) and Lanardo Tyner (21-2, 13KOs) is heading to Tepic, Mexico on December 5. A press conference officially announced the fight. Alvarez was expecting the fight to head to venue in Los Angles, California but a site could not be secured.
Tyner has only lost twice. Both defeats by decision, came in 2008 to to junior welterweights Mike Arnaoutis and Lamont Peterson. This will be the seventh fight for Alvarez in 2009. He knocked out all six of his previous opponents this year. Tyner is the toughest opponent of the 19-year-old's career.
"In every fight my opponents are becoming more difficult. I prepare to win to keep my path clear for a world title fight. In every training session I learn different things, move around, going to the body, throw combinations, etc," Alvarez told ESTO.
