The silver 154-pound champion of the WBC, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, made a quick visit to Mexico City to take care of a few particular issues, but also took the opportunity to talk about his future in boxing.
"I want to face Manny Pacquiao. I'm joining the group of those who want to fight with him, and I will in time," confessed the 20-year-old star from Guadalajara.
The charismatic boxer added: "In my career, things are going step by step. My promoter Oscar De La Hoya is right when he said that I should be fighting for a world championship by the end of 2011, and not before."
"In the fight where I beat Lovemore Ndou in Veracruz, I realized what I need to learn. I have to go slowly, without haste, plus there's no reason to hurry. For now I will rest, and be with family. It has been a busy year. My next fight.....we've scheduled it for late February, but there is still no opponent or venue."
