19-year-old welterweight prospect Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (31-0, 23KOs) crushed his keep-busy opponent Brian Camechis with a left hook to the jaw at the 23-second mark of the third. Alvarez packed the house on Saturday night with thousands coming out to see his fight in Chiapas, Mexico.
Alvarez is now ready for the next step in his career - the conquest of America. He will fight on the Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Shane Mosley undercard on May 1 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Alvarez expects his loyal Mexican following to storm Las Vegas to watch his HBO pay-per-view debut. After the fight, Alvarez made it known he wants all of the big names at the weight.
"I am pleased to have taken this fight. The best part was of this was making the fans in Chiapas happy. I've been treated great. Now comes the crucial fights of my career. The next fight will be on May 1 in Las Vegas. From this point forward, I think I'll be on the quick road to a welterweight title," Alvarez said.
"I want to fight all of the big names, Shane Mosley, Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather. I continue to show improvement with each fight."
