MGM GRAND Las Vegas, Nevada - According to Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, WBC junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez will return to the ring in December.

"Saul Alvarez has indicated that he would like to fight again in December. We are going to make that happen," stated Schaefer.

Alvarez knocked out Alfonso Gomez in the sixth round of a tough fight at The Staples Center in Los Angeles. The Golden Boy CEO then revealed that after the December fight that he would like to match Alvarez versus his rival Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., the WBC middleweight champion, in early next year.

"After the December fight we would like to make a fight (Canelo) versus Chavez
Jr. That is the fight we want to make."
