Last Saturday in Guadalajara, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (35-0, 26KOs) sat back and watched his older brother Rigoberto Alvarez get dominated for twelve rounds by Austin Trout (22-0, 13KOs). The unbeaten American boxer picked up the WBA's "regular" title at 154-pounds. Without hesitation, Canelo has issued the call to get revenge for his older brother.
Before he can think about Trout, Alvarez must overcome his commitment on March 5 against British boxer Matthew Hatton in Anaheim, California. Following Hatton, he would like a revenge fight against Trout, tentatively in June in Guadalajara.
"It's sad what happened. The losses always hurt, but that's boxing, there is always good and bad. Now I want Trout in Guadalajara. I want to get revenge. In June, I would make a date after the fight with Hatton. It would be a great fight for the world title. This must be the year where I go in search of the championship," Alvarez told Osris Cruz.
"(Trout) is a fast fighter who knows how to move in the ring and keep his distance. But I can beat him. I have the formula and style to beat him. He's nothing out of this world. He's an opponent that I can beat by making a smart fight."
