WBC silver junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez will not have a battle of words with his September 18 opponent, Carlos Baldomir. Alvarez has pledged to have a battle of fists in the ring when they clash at Staples Center in California on the undercard of the Shane Mosley vs. Sergio Mora pay-per-view. Baldomir recently made comments promising to knock Alvarez out before ten rounds.

"I don't pay attention to the words coming out the mouth of any opponent. I've had some promise me that I would get knocked out and look at what happened to them - all of them lost," Alvarez said. "I prefer to speak with my fists and not with the mouth. I prefer to say that I'm happy to be fighting with someone like him."

Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya says if Alvarez puts forth an impressive showing, he may receive a major title opportunity in 2011.
