Mexican welterweight Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (31-0, 23 KOs) has arrived in Las Vegas to finish his training camp for the upcoming fight with Jose Miguel Cotto (31-1-1, 23 KOs). The fight takes place on the pay-per-view undercard to Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Shane Mosley on May 1 at the MGM Grand.
Alvarez arrived in Vegas early, along with his manager, trainer and a few team members. He wanted additional time to get used to the climate. "Canelo" fans were cheering him on as he left Mexico for the biggest fight of his career.
After a flight lasting three hours and fifteen minutes, he was greeted at the airport by members of Golden Boy Promotions. Alvarez plans to finish his camp at the IBA Boxing Gym. His opponent Jose Cotto is training in Florida with younger brother, and ex-two division champ, Miguel Cotto.
