Kalle Sauerland of Sauerland Event, who promote Mikkel Kessler (44-2, 33 KOs), expect the Danish superstar to return to the ring in early 2012. He was scheduled to face WBO super middleweight champion Robert Stieglitz (40-2, 23 KOs) on November 5th, but he was forced to withdraw after breaking one of his fingers in training camp. Kessler recently underwent surgery to correct the injury and there were no complications.

"Mikkel had surgery and everything went really well. He will have to take a short break from training. Mikkel is a real fitness freak, and unlike many other boxers he always remains in good shape. We think Mikkel will be ready to return to the ring at the beginning of next year," Sauerland said.
