Team Sauerland will promote the European featherweight title tussle between contenders Dennis Ceylan (17-0-1, 8 KOs) and Ryan Walsh (21-1-1, 10 KOs) after they tabled a €60,305 bid to win the right to stage the fight.
Double A Promotion put up €60,000, but fell just shy of the winning figure. The bout will take place in Ceylan's home country of Denmark with a date and venue to be announced in the near future.
“I’m very happy that this fight is going to happen in Denmark,” said Ceylan when confirming the news.
“It is what the fans deserve, and with their support, I’m sure I can become European Champion. It is going to be a great fight. Ryan Walsh is a good opponent, he is very strong so I will need to be careful not to get caught by too many punches, but I’m confident in my own ability and I know I have what it takes to win.”
“We’re delighted to have won the purse bids and secured Dennis home advantage,” added Nisse Sauerland.
“Dennis and the Danish fans can now look forward to an exciting European title contest on home soil. We will be an announcing a date and a venue for the fight in the coming weeks.”
Ceylan, 27, has reeled off five wins since drawing with Cristian Montilla in Germany in 2014. The opposition has been modest, but the run does include a revenge win over Montilla (W TKO 7).
Cromer’s Walsh, 30, has gone 5-0, three by stoppage, since losing to Lee Selby in a British and Commonwealth title challenge back in 2013, picking up and defending the British title en route to his latest title tilt.
