MGM Grand, Las Vegas - WBC super bantamweight champion Leo Santa Cruz (28-0-1, 16KOs) is confident of possessing the perfect style, and the perfect formula, to defeat WBC/WBA champion Guillermo Rigondeaux (15-0, 10KOs).
Santa Cruz returns this coming Saturday night against massive underdog Jesus Ruiz (33-5-5, 22KOs), as the Showtime televised co-feature to the Bermane Stiverne vs. Deontay Wilder heavyweight showdown.
After this upcoming fight, Santa Cruz is very motivated to face someone like Rigondeaux.
"You can't get in distance [of his punches], because when you get in the distance is when he gets you or counter-punches. You have to throw more than one punch. Some people just throw one or two punches and then he counter-punches. I think if I throw a four, five six punch combination of punches - I don't think he'll be able to counter because I'll always be on top of him. And I think if I catch him with a good shot I'll hurt him because he doesn't have a chin," Santa Cruz explained when discussing the subject with BoxingScene.com.
