Milan, Italy - Stocky and powerful Sandy Ryan, a former amateur standout from Derby, Lancashire, England, showed her best in the fourth-round stoppage of the Montenegrin journeyman Aleksandra Vujivic (4-15-2, 2 KOs).

There was a real display of skills and power by the British fighter. Ryan, 28, punctuated her dominance in the fourth, twice dropping the taller opponent with smashing left hands to the liver section. Vujovic, 30, was in no position to continue after the second knockdown. Time of the stoppage - just her second in a career - was 1:47 of the fourth. Ryan is now 2-0, 1 KO.

Welterweight Reshat "The Albanian Bear" Mati, a native of the Staten Island, New York, USA, came to the country with arguably the biggest Albanian diaspora outside the Balkan Peninsula to outpoint and outbox durable, hard-nosed 26-year old Ukrainian journeyman Vladyslav Baranov (7-11-2, 5 KOs).

There were no knockdowns but Mati's domination was well reflected on the judges' scorecards: 80-72, 80-72 and 78-74. Mati, 23, is now 11-0, 7 KOs. The Ukrainian with African roots is just 1-7 in his last eight fights.

Italian super bantamweight Vincenzo La Femina (10-0, 5 KOs), rightfully nicknamed "The Winchester", got the biggest win over two and a half years of his young pro career by stopping usually durable Olexander Yegorov (20-7-1, 10 KOs) in five very one-sided rounds.

Yegorov, the smaller and the older of the two, was no match to his fresh and fast opponent. La Femina, 27, applied a cautious approach in the first but still outjabbed the Ukrainian. Things got worse for the guest fighter in the second round. Contrary to his second name, there was nothing feminine about La Femina, who used hard right hands to put Yegorov into trouble. One of those landed perfectly and almost doubled the Ukrainian down but Yegorov retained his upright position, although with visible difficulty.

The drubbing continued in rounds three and four. Yegorov, 33, had completely slowed down and just ate punches trying to land just something in return. Another right hand - a straight one - wobbled the Ukrainian in the third. La Femina almost punched Yegorov into obscurity in the fourth but the veteran boxer managed to survive under a very stern eye of the referee. In the fifth, La Femina continued the punishment with increased brutality, finally dropping Yegorov on an accumulation of punches in the midst of the round. Once again Yegorov made it to the bell only to retire during the break. He has lost his last sixth straight but he had been stopped just once.
