It was an early morning weigh-in on Friday at the Theater of Madison Square Garden where both Gennady Golovkin (36-0, 33 KOs) and Danny Jacobs (32-1, 29 KOs) came in just a shade under the middleweight limit.
Golovkin, the defending IBF, IBO, WBA, WBC world champion weighed 159.6 pounds, while Jacobs tipped the scales at 159.8.
Both fighters looked in fine physical condition for the HBO Pay-Per-View clash. This will be the second pay-per-view headliner for Golovkin, and the first for Jacobs.
Golovkin's trainer, Abel Sanchez, had no doubts that Jacobs would come prepared.
"I think he understands how difficult this fight is and how difficult a task it's going to be,'' Sanchez said a couple of hours after the weigh-ins had taken place.
"It's a big event for him, it's in his hometown, all the people around him understand it. He did look a little drawn but that's what these guys do the last couple of days before the weigh-in."
As for his man, Sanchez stated that Golovkin had a already been on weight two full days ago.
"Gennady feels good. Gennady left and went and had breakfast, he's resting. He was 160 on Wednesday in the morning, he ate breakfast, ran again on Wednesday night. Thursday he rested, ran about twenty minutes on Thursday night, the weight was fine," Sanchez said.
Golovkin seemed to be in a good mood at the weigh-in.
"He's ready to go," said Sanchez.
