Salvador Sanchez II: "I Injured My Hand in Round Two"

On the Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.-John Duddy undercard at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, featherweight Tomas Villa (23-7-4, 14KOs) upset Salvador Sanchez II (19-4-2, 9KOs) with an eight round unanimous decision victory. The scores were 79-73, 78-74, and, 77-75.

The loss snapped a nine fight win streak at lightweight. Sanchez said he hurt his right hand in the second round of the fight. He thought two of the the judges scored the fight too wide. "I thought it was very close" Sanchez kept saying. 

"I gave it my best. I hurt my hand in the second round. I hit him with a right hand on top of the head and I felt the pain right away. I told my corner but there was nothing that I could do except keep trying to throw it and hold him off and do the best I could with the injury," Sanchez said.
