The Philippines Christopher Saluday has suffered a sixth round TKO loss in an Asian Boxing Council welterweight title fight against champion Sataporn Singwancha of Thailand in Bangkok.
Reports from Bangkok said it was a very entertaining bout while it lasted with both fighters throwing big shots. The Thai champion who is ranked No. 17 by the WBC started off aggressively and dropped Saluday with a vicious right hook in the very first round.
Saluday fought back in the second round and stunned the champion with a solid left hook that decked Sataporn forcing the champion to be more cautious. Sataporn began to control the fight with accurate combinations and caught Saluday with a right straight in round four sending the Filipino to the canvas.
Sataporn took complete control of the fight in the sixth round and nailed Saluday twice with solid uppercuts that decked the challenger and forced the referee to call a halt at 2:08 of the round.
Sataporn improved to 14-2 with 9 knockouts while Saluday dropped to 11-10-1 with
6 KO’s.
