Orlando "Siri" Salido (39-11-2) had a successful return to the ring on July 28th  when he knocked out Moises Gutierrez (21-5) in three rounds in a non-title bout.

The fight was Salido's first since his 10th round knockout of Juan Manuel Lopez in their highly anticipated rematch this past March. Salido first defeated Lopez in April 2011.

Salido fought two similar non-title fights after his first victory over Lopez. In the second of those non-title bouts which took place this past December, he was nearly upset by Weng Haya in Salido's hometown of Ciudad Obregon in Sonora, Mexico.  Haya dropped Salido twice before the Mexican came back to stop him the 8th round.

On a recent edition of The Boxing Lab, BoxingScene's official audio show, Salido said he learned from his past mistakes.  "I used my experience from that fight to make sure I was prepared better for this fight. I demonstrated that I am a true champion."

Two weeks ago Salido's wife gave birth to the couple's fourth child. Salido, who is a very proud father, said they are now plotting the course for his next fight. "I am very happy with my newborn son. We are now looking at the boxing aspect of my life now and are going to see what fight we can make next," Salido told us on The Boxing Lab.

A fight between Salido and top contender Mikey Garcia has been on the table  for a while now. There have been talks for the fight to take place in October or possibly on the undercard of Manny Pacquiao's next fight which will take place in November.  Salido said that he is open to facing the up and coming prospect and feels his level of experience will counteract Garcia's advantage in youth.

"We have been talking about the Garcia fight. I hope it happens. I know Garcia is ranked for my belt and we are just waiting to see if it will happen.

"I have seen three or four of his fights. He has a good punch and he is a good boxer but I have more experience and I have faced better opponents. He hasn't fought guys that I faced throughout my career."
