So what's the latest with former world champion Orlando 'Siri' Salido (43-13-4, 30 KOs). The Mexican fan-favorite hasn't been in the ring since his memorable war against Francisco Vargas last June at the StubHub Center in Carson, California, which ended in a draw.
Salido was scheduled to face Takashi Miura on December 17th before pulling out of the fight with an injury.
His manager, Sean Gibbons, told BoxingScene.com - "Brother Orlando is ready to rumble, he's training, he's working hard. He had accepted a fight on May 6th with (Miguel) 'Mickey' Roman but due to some politics in boxing unfortunately we weren't able to close that fight."
That match-up with Roman (56-12, 43 KOs) had been proposed for the Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. pay-per-view undercard at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
As of now, it looks like Salido will not be a part of that show that is being run by Golden Boy Promotions.
"That's what it looks like, after agreeing to the fight certain extensions couldn't be reached," explained Gibbons.
"We still thought it would be a great fight. It would've turned Canelo- Chavez into a Super Bowl of Mexico-type of card. Just like you had 'Triple G' (Gennady Golovkin) and Danny Jacobs, you had 'Chocolatito'(Roman Gonzalez) in an unbelievable fight with the Thai guy," Gibbons said.
"Now you get Canelo- Chavez which is a tremendous fight on it's own but why not give the consumer, why not give the fight fan another main event on the card instead of just trying to rip them off and put on some stuff you're trying to build.
"Give'em two warriors like Orlando Salido and Miguel Roman - it's a can't-miss fight. So any network that wants it, please call. We're ready to rumble."
