BoxingScene.com caught up with undefeated crusierweight Ryan Coyne (15-0) on a variety of topics. "The Irish Outlaw" takes on Shane Steele (7-2) on October 9th in his hometown of St. Louis, Missouri. This will be the first time Coyne headlines at home.

Coyne also talks about his previous fight, a TKO victory over Warren Browning, Danny Green-BJ Flores and more in this exclusive interview.

BoxingScene.com:  Tell us about your upcoming fight with Shane Steele?

Ryan Coyne:  Ryan, I'm fighting in a small showcase fight here in St. Louis on October 9th. I'm only two months removed from my last fight on Devon Alexander's undercard and I'm very excited to get to get back in there. In lieu of sitting on the sideline until next year waiting for a higher profile fight, I'm taking this opportunity to stay sharp.

BoxingScene.com: As you stated this is a stay busy fight and it wasn't the type of opponent you were looking for originally. That being said I am sure you respect your opponent. What type of performance are you looking to put on?

Ryan Coyne: We offered this fight to several guys out there and I won't mention any names but we were turned down by several more high profile types. That said, Shane Steele is a rugged powerful opponent who is coming to win so I'm not taking him lightly whatsoever. In fact, I tip my cap to him for stepping up to the plate.

BoxingScene.com:  You have fought in your hometown of St Louis many times. How does it feel to be headlining at home for the first time?

Ryan Coyne:  I love my fans here in St. Louis and it's always a treat to get to perform my trade in the comforts of home. I'm going to give a performance to remember for all my loyal fans and hopefully some new ones on Saturday.

BoxingScene.com: What are the keys to you coming out with a victory?

Ryan Coyne:  I just have to execute my game plan. I have a great team around me with my trainer/manager Jose Ponce, my strength & conditioning coach Matt Brown, and business advisor Mike Garrett. They put me in the best possible position to win. My job is to step through the ropes and put the pieces together.

BoxingScene.com:  Tell us about the rest of the fight card.

Ryan Coyne:  This card features some up and comers. You've got Nick Reeder  making his pro debut. Nick is a guy with solid amateur and klckboxing background. I've sparred numerous rounds with him and I can personally say he's a tough SOB. You've also got Tyrone Chatman on the card. Tyrone stumbled a bit  early in his career but he's a young lion on a roll with tremendous ability. He's going to win some fans over on Saturday night!

BoxingScene.com:  I know you don't want to look ahead but I assume your next fight will be on the Bradley-Alexander undercard. What type of opponent would you like to face on that card assuming you win on October 9th?

Ryan Coyne:  We take every fight in stride and Saturday will be no different. This fight has already been won with the grueling 8 weeks in the gym. I've had a busy and productive year and after we get this victory we are going to take a little time off. Moving forward we will be back to form and ready for any high profile fight offered to us.

BoxingScene.com:  Going back over your last fight against the then undefeated Warren Browning how do you rate your performance?

Ryan Coyne:  I give the performance a B. We had a very strong, powerful and most importantly undefeated opponent in front of us. We executed the gameplan just like we trained to do and registered a highlight reel knockout of the night!  Still, I'm never satisfied with a performance. When you get satisfied with yourself you become vulnerable. Even if I would have stopped him in 30 seconds I wouldn't have been satisfied.

BoxingScene.com:  On November 17th there is a big fight in your division between Danny Green and BJ Flores. Who do you favor in that fight?

Ryan Coyne:  This is an intriguing match up. BJ is one of the better fighters and names in the division. He's also a personal friend. That being said, he's got a tall order in front of him having to travel to Australia to tangle with the tough as nails Danny Green in his backyard. If BJ can impose his physically on Green I think he can pull it off.

BoxingScene.com:  Do you have a message for the fans?

Ryan Coyne:  2010 has been a big year for me and I am going to close it out with a big victory on Saturday. We've got our sights set on big things in 2011. Thank you to my team around me and all the fans out there who make this possible. Stay tuned, this ride is going to new heights!
