Featherweight contender Gary Russell Jr. is confident of taking out the WBC featherweight champion Jhonny Gonzalez, when they trade punches on March 28th in a Showtime main event from The Palms in Las Vegas. Russell's only defeat took place last year, when he suffered a twelve round decision loss to Vasyl Lomachenko in a bout for the vacant WBO featherweight title.
Gary, who's clocked up a fast draw - "Jhonny's saying he's going to knock me out, but I am not sure of how he's going to be able to hit something he won't be able to see? I'm that damn quick he won't be able to see my hands!"
Jhonny is defending his featherweight crown for the third time. He won it again, by blasting out undefeated Abner Mares in less than a round in 2013. In his last fight, Gonzalez battered and stopped Mexican veteran Jorge Arce, who retired afterwards.
