Herning, Denmark - Super middleweight Rudy Markussen returned after three and a half years out and stopped Frenchman Christophe Karagoz at 2:46 of the sixth of a scheduled eight-rounder that headlined Sauerland´s show at MCH Kongrescenter.
Karagoz was down in the first from a stiff jab to the body and Markussen showed is murderous punching power is still there. But he also showed he´s a bit slower than he used to be and he had to wear down his opponent. In the sixth the tiring Frenchman, a sub for Ilir Mustafa, was hurt by an overhand right and went down. A second knockdown followed and and it was stopped.
Lightweight Kim "Golden Boy" Poulsen failed to shine as he outscored smaller Hungarian Zsolt Nagy over eight. All judges had it 80-72 for the Dane after a fight filled with holding and wrestling on the inside.
Cecilia Braekhus retained the WBC and WBA welterweight titles and added the vacant WBO belt to her collection with a landslide points win over brave but outclassed American Victoria Cisneros. Braekhus won on scores of 100-90 on all cards.
Jr welterweight Kasper Bruun outscored Hungarian Ferenc Zold over six. It was scored 60-54 twice and 59-55. Zold was shaken in the second and badly cut in the fifth but the Dane faded in the last two.
Swedish cruiserweight Erik Skoglund knocked out Sladko Cizics, a late sub, at 0.34 of the second round in the show opener.
Female welterweight Vinni Skovgaard won a hardfought eight round decision over Spanish prisongard Loli Munoz. It was scored 77-75, 77-75 and 76-76. Skovgaard started well but was under pressure in the mid-rounds but came back in the last two to seal a close win.
