Middleweight contender Marco Antonio Rubio (54-5-1, 46KOs) is not concerned with the odds for Saturday's fight at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Rubio will face 4-1 betting favorite Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (44-0-1, 31KOs) for the WBC's middleweight crown.
Rubio has won ten in a row since a 2009 TKO loss to former champion Kelly Pavlik. He stopped nine of those opponents inside the distance. After losing to Pavlik, Rubio went back to the gym and corrected a lot of his mistakes and made of internal changes to his corner.
"This is a good opportunity for me, a very winnable. His father was one of a kind, and the son is good, but not at the level of the father," Rubio said. "Since my defeat to Pavlik, I made a lot of changes..my coach, my trainer, and I realized that a boxing match is not won by simply throwing punches - but also by using your mind and having patience, and that's what gave me those wins."
