Rubio: I'm Knocking Chavez Out, or Getting Knocked Out

We are soon going to find out if Chavez Jr has a chin or not.

The problem with Lemieux was he was PAMPERED in Canada fighting guys no where near as good Zbik, Molina, Manfredo. His biggest name was a washed up 140 pounder Camacho Jr. He could have at least selected a washed up 160pounder!! And Lemieux is a 3 round fighter who blows his wad early. But I think Chavez should have fought top contenders when he was 27-0, not 20 plus fights later. Chavez does fight with lots of heart.

Yeah, Chavez is big-time already for sure. Are you implying that he is going to get all the help he needs in case it goes to the cards ;) But yeah, this'll be interesting. Anybody ever seen those boxing lessons on youtube with a 14 year-old David Lemieux and his trainer Canadian McCanadian Face? (Not sure what his name is...) This is getting off topic, but I know Lemieux has had solid fundamentals at a younger age than Chavez. And his power has to be at least as good as Chavez'. Just giving credit to Rubio's chin. Even though he has fundamentals from an earlier age, I'm not sure he boxes as tight as Chavez does, Chavez always ties up and blocks well, but after watching that youtube clip if Rubio could sneak solid rights like that an upset could be brewing. WAR RUBIO indeed Rubio is going to do to Chavez what he did to David Lemieux. Lemieux was young, strong, and hard-punching going into that fight and Rubio was able to weather the storm and land that long right hand of his. Made Lemieux's corner throw in the towel. There's no way Chavez quits (he's gotta live up to that fight or die Mexican mentality), but I don't think he has the boxing skills and power to knock out Rubio or hurt him badly enough to discourage him. I like Rubio's chances, I like 'em A LOT. What do yall think about the Chavez-Lemieux comparison as far as skills, power, and hype go? Going into that fight with Rubio Lemieux looked like a beast against lesser opponents. (Check youtube for some vicious KO's of his). He also has better fundamentals than Chavez IMHO. I like the comparison well enough. I saw the Lemieux-Rubio fight and was very impressed with the way Marco Antonio broke down his Canadian opponent. David was aggressive and has plenty of power, but Rubio weathered the storm and came out on top. I also like the way Marco Antonio is talking before the Chavez Jr. fight. He sounds realistic but determined. If Rubio really means what he says, there are going to be fireworks. I'd be willing to bet this one doesn't go the distance.

I see what you mean about similarities between Chavez and Lemieux, but IMO Chavez has a bit more power and ability to block punches. However, as far as hype goes, Lemieux was being groomed for big-time fame when he got upset, while Chavez has already "made it to the big leagues" as far as his fans are concerned. Now, when Chavez goes against a true quality opponent (no discredit to Rubio!), we may get a true sense of his abilities as a fighter. Yeah, Chavez is big-time already for sure.
