OMAR NIÑO’s Filipino foe for the WBC light flyweight eliminator on June 14 in Mexico City was almost denied when sending in his application for Mexican visa yesterday in Manila, Philippines.
WBC No. 2 contender Juanito Rubillar, his promoter Gabriel “Bebot” Elorde Jr. and trainer Roel Morata had a run-in with security guards of the subdivided Dasmariñas Village of the rich and famous Makati City, east of Manila.
After Elorde’s forceful explanation to the security guards, explaining that Rubillar must get his visa as soon as possible to fight in Mexico against Niño and move step closer in his chance to becoming the Philippines’ next world champion in a year or two, the chief of the security guards agreed to let them in the building.
Consul Miguel Jorge has assured Rubillar will get his visa within the week because he has complete papers, including a permit from the Mexican Immigration in Mexico City.
Rubillar won’t join Manny Pacquiao in training in Hollywood as was previously planned. His team opted to conclude his rigid training until Wednesday with twelve-rounds of sparring against three separate sparmates at the Elorde Gym in St. Rita Village in Sucat, Paranaque City, south of Manila.
Nino and Rubillar fights for twelve-rounds at Palacio de los Deportes. The survivor will get the crack at WBC the light flyweight title in a mandatory fight.
